In this eighth edition of the newsletter, we spotlight the official launch of the Global Diaspora Policy Alliance in Cabo Verde, the closure of the Diaspora for Climate Action project, the newly developed Diaspora Organizations Training Trove, and a series of events held across Italy, the US, Tunisia, and other locations.

The International Conference on the Future Agenda of Action for Global Diaspora Engagement, organized jointly by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Government of Cabo Verde, bringing together the supporters of the Dublin Declaration to glean insights from leading-edge practices in diaspora engagement. Additionally, the conference inaugurated the Global Diaspora Policy Alliance. This alliance is envisioned as a pivotal foundation for crafting the future roadmap of global diaspora engagement initiatives.

Diasporas are key partners in enhancing regular migration pathways, providing responsiveness, support, and influence. Their contributions, often ad hoc, need greater institutional support at national and international levels to reach full potential. Recognizing diasporas as genuine partners allows them to negotiate, advocate, and deliver solutions for their communities throughout the migration cycle.

In this seventh edition of the newsletter, you will find a spotlight on the Diaspora 4 Climate Action project, the “Diaspora as Agents of Development” workshop for El Salvador government officials and stakeholders, as well as a series of events focused on diaspora engagement across Europe and the United States.
