REMITTANCES AND DIASPORA ENGAGEMENT IN SOUTH SUDAN - A policy research with a focus on the South Sudanese community in Australia
This research is part of the project titled Enhancing Knowledge on Remittances and Diaspora Engagement in South Sudan, funded by the IOM Development Fund and managed by IOM South Sudan, in partnership with the Government of South Sudan’s Ministry of Finance and Planning, BSS and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The objective of the study was to fill the knowledge gap on remittances in and to South Sudan, and address policy recommendations on where the Government of South Sudan could make policy guidance to enhance migrant remittances and diaspora engagement.

This toolkit has been designed as an operational guide to help academic diaspora, hosts, home and host universities explore the challenges and opportunities ahead through African academic diaspora exchange. Building on the groundbreaking work of the institutional collaborators who have supported this toolkit, its main purpose is to provide hands-on tips and tools to help generate further impact from ongoing and future African academic diaspora exchange.

The Future of Diasporas project was born out of the realization that reflections around diaspora engagement all too often come down to States of play and lacked much-needed forward-looking vision. This publication contains 12 thought-provoking articles written by global experts who have devoted their careers to better understanding diaspora engagement and creating conditions for transnational communities to contribute to sustainable development.
