Dear Leaders and Supporters of Diaspora Organizations,

We hope you are keeping very well.

In July 2022, the Global Diaspora Confederation organised a consultation meeting supported by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and focused on key questions related to the development of a Global Diaspora Humanitarian Hub. Diaspora Organizations were consulted on their organizational and operational needs in Humanitarian Assistance and how the global hub might help in strengthening communications, fostering peer support and capacity exchanges and promoting increased coordination and cooperation in humanitarian responses.

GDC is inviting Diaspora Organizations for a follow-up meeting on 24th September, 2022, to present and validate the ‘asks’ from the Diaspora Organizations for the Global Diaspora Humanitarian Hub.

Meeting objectives:

  • Share updates from the last consultation meeting with Diaspora Organizations on the Global Diaspora Humanitarian Hub.

  • Present ‘asks’ from the Diaspora Organizations for the Global Diaspora Humanitarian Hub.

  • Validate the ‘asks’ for the Global Diaspora Humanitarian Hub with Diaspora Organizations.

  • Prioritize specific ‘asks’ for the Global Diaspora Humanitarian Hub and discuss next steps.

The details for the presentation and validation meeting are as follows:

Date: 24th September, 2022

Time: 1pm – 3pm (UTC)

Venue: Virtual/Online

The Global Diaspora Humanitarian Hub is harnessing the Global Framework for Diaspora Engagement in Humanitarian Assistance to support a more effective and streamlined coordination of Diaspora Organizations and Humanitarian actors’ interventions.  The Global Diaspora Confederation aims to work with all key stakeholders to increase the level and effectiveness of diaspora engagement both in humanitarian and development contexts.
The Global Diaspora Humanitarian Hub will offer a global platform in response to the needs of Diaspora Organizations to further their work in Humanitarian Assistance before, during and after crises, operating in close cooperation and complementarity with other relevant humanitarian actors.

We look forward to seeing you soon and please keep well and stay safe.

Best wishes,

Peter Kwok
Chair, Global Diaspora Confederation.

PS: To increase the openness of our discussion, the meeting will be conducted under the Chatham House rule.
