iDiaspora Photo Exhibition CICG Geneva

Background

IOM and partners were pleased to facilitate a multi-stakeholder consultation to discuss the establishment of this Global Diaspora Policy Alliance (GDPA) on May 17 at the Centre International de Conférences (CICG) in Geneva. The aim of this meeting was to discuss and design the establishment, structure and scope of the Global Diaspora Policy Alliance through a collaborative approach. With such vision, UN agencies, the private sector, diaspora organizations, diaspora leaders including youth, and key partners were invited to this event.

The hybrid event at the CICG also featured the first-ever photo exhibition on diasporas. This is the result of the first international photo contest organized last year by IOM and Iber-Rutas. The exhibition showcased the winning photographs, which highlight the different ways in which diasporas cope and adapt when they leave their countries of origin in search of new opportunities and live transnational lives.
