This event will discuss the role of diaspora in fostering sustainable development.

Two diaspora experts supported through IOM’s Connecting Diaspora for Development (CD4D2) project will share insights about the way their assignments contributed to knowledge-transfer in their countries of origin. Furthermore, together with a panel of thematic experts, we will explore ways in which the diaspora can be included successfully in development efforts.

The event will be introduced and moderated by Geertrui Lanneau, Senior Regional Specialist on Labour Mobility and Human Development at the IOM Regional Office in Brussels. The panel discussion will be moderated by Kiza Magendane, knowledge broker at The Broker and co-author of the recently published knowledge dossier on diaspora inclusion in development.

Featuring speakers:

  • Jela Keyany, Lawyer, Programme Manager and member of the Iraqi diaspora
